It’s hard for gamers to give up their beloved controllers when switching to a mobile screen, according to an indie-developer working on a Microsoft Surface title, you can bring your Xbox 360 controller along with you.
The indie-developer that talks about the feature to Wired is Jake Kazadal, the creative director for 17-Bit. The company is putting together a new RTS title named ‘Skulls of the Shogun’ which will launch on the new Microsoft Surface.
Kazadal states that the controller isn’t the only option for the new tablet, players can also use a mouse or the regular touchscreen interface. All of these option are made posible from the USB connection on the Microsoft Surface.
The developer speaks from experience when it comes to the pitfalls of mobile-gaming stating, “I don’t play them, I don’t like the controls”, he does go on to say that with the new Surface things have changed, “because I can plug in my wired Xbox 360 controller (into Surface) and all of a sudden I have a full-blown games console wherever I go.â€
That certainly is the dream of almost every gamer that has ever had to go on business trips, family vacations or stuck without internet access for a while. Having the extra controller and mouse option does give the Surface a huge advantage to game-developers, how it will handle is yet to be seen.
