Sony recently revealed ‘Defiance’ a new third-person shooter MMO that won’t have a subscription fee and is scheduled to launch on the PS3. Now Sony has narrowed down the release window, to a release date this April.

The game is being developed by Trion Worlds and it is scheduled to release on April 2, 2013. The game takes place in the San Francisco Bay Area and promises “hundreds of other players” battling it out online. The game is scheduled to release in all regions on the same day, so no one will feel left out.

The game has a show tie-in of the the same name, thought the television version of ‘Defiance’ takes place in St. Louis. Fans of the game can watch the season premier a few days after the game is released on April 15, 2024 at 9pm EST.

Elizabeth Tobey, the community director at Trion Worlds, took to the Playstation blog to release the new trailer for the game (shown above) and describe what players have in store for themselves:
Earth isn’t a safe place anymore. After the terraforming and wars that followed the arrival of the alien Votans, it became a dangerous place, barely recognizable as the Earth we once knew. As an Ark Hunter, you’ll have a special set of skills to give you a head start in this new place, but success won’t be easy. We’ve just released a live action trailer for the game that provides a glimpse of what it’s like to play as an Ark Hunter in Defiance, as well as some of the challenges you’ll be up against. Watch the trailer at the top of this post.
