  • Reports point to PS3 adding pre-load service for PSN downloads

Different sources are pointing to a new “pre-loading service”, that will be made available in the very-near future, for Playstation Network digital downloads.

The service is already offered from other digital-distribution sites for PC and Mac but the practice has never made a jump to the home console. For the first time last March, players were able to “pre-order” a digital-copy of ‘Mass Effect 3′ for PS3 but now they will be able to download the copies before they are live.

This could be a terrific service for PS3 gamers, given how long some download times are on the PSN network. If you add in the PSN+ automated downloads feature, you may be able to set the titles to download at midnight while you are sleeping. Gamasutra has reported that the first game to use the new pre-load service will be the PlayStation Move title Sorcery.
