League of Legends Mac Client testing available in beta form, full beta launch incoming

Steve “Udyr” Mieczkowski, the Associate Producer on the hit title ‘League of Legends’, announced today that the Mac Beta client is ready to be tested buy some of the OS X community. Here are the details.

So what does that mean exactly? As Mieczkowski states, “it’s available right now on the Public Beta Environment. Open beta, which will allow anyone to access the live servers on Macs, will follow after we’re confident in the results from the PBE test”.

Bringing a game to Mac gamers is usually quite an effort, but it is also well received news from the Mac community. Mieczkowski also pointed out that, “Riot engineers re-wrote a lot of the underlying game engine so that both PC and Mac platforms share the same code base and assets”. An important note since this means that both platforms will share features and fixes at the same time.

This isn’t a open-beta , but it’s the one of the last steps leading to one. The developers will work with the “PBE players” testers to iron out existing bugs before the game opens to all applicants.

If you would like to download the Mac PBE client you can do so below, then you will have to download the latest patch and get to testing.
