There is already a lot of news buzzing around Konami this week, the publisher has a lot to celebrate, as the ‘Metal Gear’ franchise reaches its 25th anniversary. Now Hideo Kokima is ready to release some presents of his own in the form of the Fox Engine.

The ‘Fox Engine’ is the next big step for Konami and the Metal Gear series, if and when Metal Gear 5 ever comes out, odds are that will be the engine that supports it. Kojima (shown on the right) sat down with Sony to talk about the anniversary and what it means to the franchise on the Playstation blog. Kojima stated:

The Fox Engine is nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along. Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games.

Production studios in Japan are nearly extinct, a fact that we have recognized for nearly 10 years, and although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do… on August 30th in Japan to be more specific.
