  • Kinect Play Fit To Track Your Gaming Fitness

You dance with your whole body when playing Dance Central. You perform a virtual golf swing when playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13. You jump and swing your arms around like crazy when playing Kinect: Star Wars.

Ever wonder how much exercise you’re actually getting while playing these Kinect games?

You’ll soon be able to find out, according to a new report. Microsoft is working on Kinect Play Fit, which is a built-in Dashboard feature that will track your exercise across all Kinect games. In addition, Microsoft will also release a separate heart rate monitor peripheral called “Joule,” which will wirelessly track your heart rate while playing.

Say what you will about the quality of the Kinect and its games, but no one can deny that at least it’s making an effort to push exercise and fitness into the forefront. More details are expected at E3.
