When gamers go to war this October, they will do so via 2 discs on the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3. This news should honestly come as no surprise, given the insane level of quality and detail seen so far.
A Japanese promotional poster reveals that the game will indeed ship on two DVDs, as opposed to one Blu_ray for PlayStation3, as suspected. This is just the latest instance of the “storage problem” evident in the the DVD format, as Lost Planet 2 had to make significant cuts to the 360 version due to storage issues, and L.A. Noire shipped on three discs.
Microsoft added support for the DVD 9 format to attempt to rectify the problem, which adds approximately 1 GB extra to each disc.
Battlefield 3 is scheduled to launch on October 25th, 2011.
