Funcom just launched one of their biggest MMO projects today named ‘The Secret World’. During this successful launch the now-former CEO, Trond Arne Aas, decided to make it a going-away present. You can read about the bizzarre departure below.
Funcom’s new CEO will be the former COO, Ole Schreiner. Trond Arne Aas (shown on the right) relinquished the role to him this afternoon. Trond Arne Aas, we like saying that name, isn’t leaving the company however, instead he will now become a chief strategy officer expected to start work on upcoming Funcom projects.
Trond Arne Aas seemed to feel that this would be the perfect time to step down, since the company is doing so well and there would be no launching projects that would suffer from such a repositioning.
Anyway, ‘The Secret World’ did have a very successful launch so far, someone should just tell Arne Aas it’s not always about him, games need their own day.
