This July weekend marks the final two days that you will be able to experience the ‘Guild Wars 2: Beta’ and ArenaNet is making sure it’s the best yet. Here is all the new content coming up for the big kickoff.
The event will take place from Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 22. The title is expecting to reach “hundreds of thousands of players from Europe and North America” according to ArenaNet. This beta will bring both asura and sylvari characters to the optional race classes. Along with the new races, a new map is coming to the beta program. This map (Brisban Wildlands) is recommended for levels 17-20 and this weekend is the first time it will be available.
Also starting this weekend is the first of the “minigames”. The beta will host ‘Keg Brawl’, ArenaNet describes the minigame on a blog post stating, “two teams attempt to score points by toting a full keg of ale across an icy lake and turning it in to the Ale Collector that belongs to their team. Participants are free to tackle, pummel, kick, and otherwise rough up competing players in order to seize control of the keg.”
If you’re a fan of PvP, there is a new map called “Legacy of the Foefire”. If PvP isn’t your thing then don’t fret, the beta will bring “objectives for solo players called sentries”, which are “solitary NPC guards located on a capture point that are worth points if you can take them out”.
“Vistas” is a new feature for the game that is being introduced in this beta weekend as well. “a new feature for sightseers, explorers, and those who just enjoy drinking in the view” according to the same blog post.
The beta will also test out the “Gem Store”, a secure “Gem Store billing system in a live environment, which means you can purchase gems with your credit card or through PayPal”.
