FCC Filing Suggests New PS3 Model
A recent FCC filing suggests that a new, slimmer, cheaper PS3 console could be on its way soon
Sony filed what appears to be a sample of a “Computer Entertainment System” with the model number CECH-4001x. The current systems are the 3000 series. The sample was submitted to the FCC for testing on March 9, 2012.
Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida did not rule out the possibility of another PS3 hardware model when asked. “We haven’t announced anything new on PS3 in terms of hardware revisions…We should never say never – hardware guys are always looking at ways to make things cheaper, smaller.”
Some pictures of the filing are below, but be warned…they don’t actually reveal too much.
