Hello folks and welcome to another Fastest Lap! I loved this week; a number of my favorite cars were part of the reveals. This week we have a couple of modern American muscle cars, a Lexus LFA, and one weird looking Mazda. Let’s dive in!
1. 2010 Lexus LFA
2. 1969 Toyota 2000GT
3. 1992 Toyota Supra 2.0 GT Twin Turbo
4. 2002 Chevrolet Camaro 35th Anniversary SS
5. 2005 Ford Mustang GT
6. 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO
7. 1994 Nissan Fairlady Z Version S Twin Turbo
8. 2006 Saturn ION Red Line
9. 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8
When people ask me what my favorite car is, I have a rather complicated answer. I have two categories: cars that I will never, ever own, and cars that I can go down to the dealership today and drive home in one. My “never, ever” favorite car is the Aston Martin DBS, and my “Right here, right now” favorite is this Dodge Challenger.
As I’ve stated multiple times, I love muscle cars, both classic and modern. The most recent Mustang and Challenger combine the two in the styling, and it’s pretty much a collection of car pornography for me. I think the Challenger is one of the most beautiful cars in the world right now, and it looks the proper part of a true, American muscle car. I fully intend to get one; it’s just a matter of when.
The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 is a beast of a car. It comes with a 6.1L HEMI V8 capable of 425 BHP with 420 lbs/ft. of torque. 0-60 time is 4.6 seconds, which is insane when you consider that this car weighs 4,146 lbs…not a light car.
The reason why this is my favorite car is because of its soul. It’s not the most expensive car, it’s not the most powerful car, and it’s not the most beautiful car. What this car represents is Americana. It’s big, blue collar, brash, and powerful. It makes me WANT to drive it…and that’s all that matters.
