Final Fantasy XIV Has ‘Greatly Damaged’ Brand, Says Square CEO
Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada says that Final Fantasy XIV has done serious damage to the series’ brand name. FF XIV was poorly received upon release, with Square Enix promising a list of updates to fix all the bugs that were present.
“The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged [by XIV],” says Wada at a Tokyo press conference. “We’ll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released.”
Is it me or are more and more publishers releasing games that seem to be only partially finished, and then updating via patches? This didn’t seem like such an issue last-gen. Hmm….
