  • Borderlands 2 Creative Designer Scott Kester talks ‘Diversity’

A video released from 2K International takes you to the Gearbox studios in Texas to hear from concept designer Scott Kester, who is working on Borderlands 2.

The video may start off looking like a ‘Road Rules Dallas’ trailer but you should stick around and listen to what Kester has to say about the upcoming sequel to the smash-hit Borderlands.

He says that Borderlands 2 is, “really about the loot”. Kester goes on to talk about how they have made significant upgrades to the loot-drop and weapon customizations in the game, saying that Gearbox is “Focusing a lot more on the gun-content creation, making those really interesting and fun, a new thing around every corner.”

He does comment on the criticism that the original Borderlands felt repetitive at times and talks about what changes are being made to overcome that obstacle. All the while “not messing with the formula of the game dramatically”

For those worried about Claptrap making an appearance, don’t. Kester says he is “definitely around” but not so much “in the limelight now”. It can be hard securing a place in a sequel, we wish him the best.

Some great news for gamers that felt the world of the original Borderlands was just too desert-plain for their taste, will be happy to hear that Kester states, “each of the zones are very distinct” saying they each have “their own vibe and flare and creatures”. On that note let the video take you to the magical world of Dallas and Gearbox Software.
