It was rumored earlier in the year when Sony talked about cutting costs and restructuring their many operations around the world, but now it seems that Sony will actually sell their landmark building in New York City.
The building is also Sony’s United States HQ, Bloomberg is reporting that the total cost of the building will hit $1.1 billion dollars, with Sony to end up with $770 million after the final paperwork is signed.
Sony won’t be packing up any boxes quite yet, the company will still be residents in the building for another three years. Chetrit Group will purchase the building from Sony, leasing it to prospective clients. It’s a melancholy day when any large gaming entity leaves our fair city, and we hope their new home is just as grand.
